Letter from our founder - Aska Maternity Movement Bracelet

Letter from our founder

B eing a journalist and a writer from a very early age has meant not only creating stories, but also believing in them.

There is one special story that continually inspires me, that helped me through the rough times, and which I return to again and again when I need to be reminded of my purpose, and the meaning of life.

That story is ASKA AND THE WOLF by literary Nobel Prize winner, Ivo Andric. The heroine of the story is Aska, a lamb… and a ballet dancer. Who, by her beautiful and captivating dancing, succeeds in escaping the clutches of the wolf hunting her and in turn, death itself. With every pirouette, with every entrechat, with every beat, Aska enchanted that dangerous wolf, mesmerizing him with a symphony of movement, delaying the moment of his lethal pounce, until finally help arrived.

It taught me at a very young age that one can fight for life, dreams and hopes using one’s creativity and the power of art.

Through my life I was destined to being able to tell my story in many impactful ways: from a journalistic, editorial and marketing career and working for the world’s greatest brands to the magical world of creating fine jewellery.

And as it is with all exciting stories (or if you’d wish, destiny again), one day I got an opportunity to make something even more meaningful with the jewellery – to develop a piece of jewellery that will help mums-to-be being more confident during their pregnancy and to be more comfortable when they feel that first contact with their baby, known as a movement, bump or if we translate into my story – ‘a pirouette’. I felt that there was a strong connection between the little lamb’s dance for life and the movements that show how baby’s “dance” in the womb is a progression, as is the rhythm of life.

A fter successfully trialing the product with scores of prospective mothers and parents through the NHS Telford and Wrekin CCG initiative we have developed a range of designs which we think will suit any occasion. This is how the Aska Maternity Movement Bracelet was born.

T hank you for reading my story. I hope that you enjoy wearing the product as much as we have enjoyed creating it and that you find it as useful as those expectant mums who have used it so far.

And you never know – maybe that movement you feel and the move of the loop over the bead right now means that your little one will be one day the world’s most recognized dancer.

So, the story continues…

With lots of Love,
